What is Engineered Timber Flooring

Engineered timber flooring is comprised of multiple layers of cross-laminated plywood, or layers of structural pine, the surface of the timber consists of real natural hardwood known as the veneer. The veneer consists of various thicknesses, but similar to solid timber floors, it can be sanded down a few times for desired width.

Benefits of Engineered Timber Flooring

There are many benefits that engineered timber flooring can offer in both residential and commercial projects:

  • Durability: Engineered timber is known for its’ long-lasting It also has less expansion and contraction than solid timber flooring, making it more suitable for the Australian climate
  • Natural Look: Engineered wood has a natural aesthetic, due to the endless patterns and grains found in each plank, making it irreplaceable with competing synthetic
  • Versatility: With endless opportunities in both colours and styles, engineered timber can be harmoniously incorporated into any design style and environment, from classical to post-modern.
  • Cost-Effective: With various options in thicknesses, engineered timber is considerably cheaper than any solid
  • Sustainable: Made from natural materials, the efficient process of layering and manufacturing engineered timber, uses less resources than solid timber.

How is Engineered Timber installed

There are two methods of installing engineered timber floors:

  • Floating (Loose-Layed): The increasingly popular floating installation process provides a much more cost-effective method to install, where the floor is loose-layed on top of the underlay (usually foam or rubber) .
  • Glue-Down: The premium method of installing Engineered timber floors is by glue-down installation, this offers minimal creaking and movement for a more pleasant experience.
